  • Safeguarding and welfare

Our Most Recent Ofsted Report

Wollaston Primary School was last inspected by Ofsted on 10th October 2023 and received an overall rating of Good in all key areas — including Quality of Education, Behaviour & Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership & Management, and Early Years provision.
We are proud of the outcomes of the inspection, which reflect the dedication of our staff, the hard work of our pupils, and the support of our wider school community.

Summary Highlights

  • Strong start in early years: Children settle quickly and adapt to routines well. Staff rapidly identify additional needs and provide appropriate support early. Relationships between staff, parents, and children are quickly established.

  • Phonics and reading progress: Phonics teaching begins immediately, with an “ambitious curriculum” in place.  Reading material is well‑matched to pupils’ known sounds, and pupils read frequently to build fluency. Pupils enjoy reading, talk about new authors, and reading leaders help others.

  • Inclusion & support for pupils with SEND: Teachers plan for pupils with SEND to work alongside their peers, and know what these pupils need to learn next. Parents of children with SEND remark positively that their children receive the support they need.

  • Behaviour, attitudes & school climate: Pupils feel the school is calm and respectful; they say teachers “are open to our feelings.” Playtimes are enjoyable for a variety of pupils (some active games, some relaxing) and minor disputes are quickly resolved. Pupils express pride in their school and feel listened to.
