Attendance
Attendance and Absence
Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in helping children succeed at school. At Wollaston Primary School, we expect all children to maintain good attendance of 95% or above wherever possible.
Reporting an Absence
If your child is unable to attend school due to illness, please notify the school office on 01933 664291 as soon as possible.
We operate a 24-hour answerphone service, allowing parents and carers to report an absence at any time. Messages are checked regularly to ensure we are informed of your child's absence.
Term-Time Leave
The school does not authorise holidays during term time.
From 1 September 2013, there has been no entitlement for parents to take their child on holiday during term time.
Any application for leave during term time will only be considered in exceptional circumstances. The Headteacher would not normally consider a family holiday during term time to be exceptional.
Penalty Notices
Parents may be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice if a child is taken out of school without authorisation.
The initial Fixed Penalty Notice is:
£80 per parent, per child
For example, in a two-parent family with two children, the total fine would be:
£320
Penalty Notices are issued by the Local Authority and apply to each parent for each child absent from school without authorised leave.
